Tropical Storm Hector Discussion Number 50

Wiki-Hurricanes Forecast Center

21:00 UTC Tue Aug 14

Hector has not changed in organization over the past 24 hours, with deep convection firing northwest of its center of circulation. The initial intensity thus remains 35kt, closest to a T2.3/33kt estimate from UW-CIMSS ADT. The environment has not been as favorable as indicated by models, and no further intensification is expected as a result. Instead, Hector should remain strength for the next 2 days or so before degenerating to a remnant low in about 48 hours and dissipate by day 4 as it rounds the western periphery of a mid- to upper-level ridge nearby.
