Disorganized showers and thunderstorms extending across the western Caribbean Sea are associated with an trough. A surface area of low pressure may form near the Yucatan Peninsula over the weekend and track northwestward into the central Gulf of Mexico, where upper-level winds will be not exactly be conducive for development. Regardless of tropical cyclogenesis, heavy rainfall capable of producing landslides is likely to impact Central America over the next few days. These rains could affect Texas by midweek, which already suffered from record flooding last month.
