Post-Tropical Cyclone Debby Discussion Number 10

Debby has opened up this afternoon and is no longer a closed tropical cyclone. High-resolution visible imagery shows that there are no longer Earth-relative easterly winds north of the circulation center; the vulnerability of the storm's northern flanks was noted in the morning ASCAT scatterometer data. Winds are estimated at 35 kt, assuming that the area of gale-force winds observed is still evident towards the system's south. Some highly localized convection has fired on occasion in various parts of the circulation, but this will be quite limited with conditions becoming less thermodynamically unstable. Debby is expected to continue tracking northeast and eventually be absorbed by the extratropical cyclone to the system's north.
